So here’s the story…..Mo came to us as rescue from Los Angels. My friend’s sister discovered 3 Little Dogs running the streets of LA. dirty and in trouble whether they knew it or not. It took her two weeks to “lure” them in to catch and help them. No Tags, No Chips…..No owner info what so ever.
Once she “got em” and cleaned them up she realized she had Poodle, Maltese and what seems to be a Chihuahua / Pitbull mix. That’s exactly what he looks like to me. I actually didn’t question his breed until today.
I got a call into VirtualRescue.org to ask if I could foster and get them adopted…I decided to give it / them a shot. We decided to call them the 3 stooges and named them Mo, Larry, Curly. Perfect names I thought. Mo is the Chi/Pit. My team and I found fosters for two (Larry & Curly) right away and I decided I keep Mo as a foster so I could observe him a bit more. I found him and his breed mix interesting.
We got Larry and Curly adopted very quickly thanks to the season start of the Pet Ministry and bake sale by Ginny Weissman and The Center for Spiritual Living Palm Desert.
The first Sunday of each month dogs and cats are offered to the congregation for foster / adoption. This is always a very successful event. It was a great day for VR…Three adoptions that day. Jenna got adopted too! (Ask me about her later) This story is about Mo.
SO….After spending time and paying attention to Mo, I think that his is unusually smart attentive, seemingly well trained, good with other dogs, house trained, travels well, VERY SMART and very sweet. I had the thought that he might make someone a great therapy, or perhaps service dog for someone with physical challenges.
I thought it over and decided I am willing to learn and train him for a higher level of service. This seem like a good time for me to learn how to train dogs which is something I have been coming to realize is something I know I will be good at and will enjoy doing. Assisting both dogs and people at the same time. WIN-WIN ! YaY!....
First things first….Mo is not Neutered yet…He does have a lot of energy for other dogs especially female dogs. It’s time and it’s the right thing to do in any case. At VirtualRescue.org we take responsibility to get all stays or rescues Spay/ Neutered / Zeutered / First shots and Microchips.
I see this ad being circulated on Facebook:
This ad states that Animal Samaritans will perform
FREE Spay or Neuter operations on Pit Bulls
AND Pit Bull Mixes.
We like FREE. We have many vet expenses
and few resources at this time.
I think this is great that we have a community resource that want to assist the people and animals of the desert. I call and make a reservation. All seems well until we arrive at our appointment and the “attitude” receptionist treats me like a scam artist / criminal and has to bring out “an expert” to verify that Mo is in fact a Pit Mix.
I’m bugged but I continue the ride…When I look at Mo’s face I see the face of a Texas Red Nose Pit Bull. I raised them for a time.
Much to my surprise…”The Expert” says she sees no Pit Bull in him and that we are not eligible for their program and grant.
Well blow me over with a feather. I never imagined I would be defending Mo’s Pit Bullness. I must admit I am questioning what he is now! For us to proceed and Mo to move onto becoming the great Therapy / Service dog that he will be….I am going to ask for YOUR assistance!
We must know what / who Mo is. I did some research and there is a kit sold by Amazon (Best Price I could find)
I put it on a “Wish List” and I am hoping one of you fine peeps out there will see it in your heart to assist us in our journey. Here is the link: http://amzn.com/w/RS5DWISW1K79
If you buy this for us it will sent straight away to us...Isn't that groovy!
VirtualRescue.org is a new On and Off Line Organization dedicated to the welfare of dogs, cats, and few other critters.
In our short time of officially doing this work we have many success cases. These success cases inspire us to keeping up the good work to keep innocent animals from distress and death when we know they could live perfectly happy healthy lives as companion and service animals.
Please assist Mo and I on the next steps on our journey.
Let’s find out more about Mo and see who owes who an apology.
I have considered that I MIGHT be incorrect here and Animal Samaritans is correct.
Nah! Can’t BE! Mo IS my ChiPit I’m just sure of it….Let’s find out together!
I you would rather make another type or amount of a contribution,
Here is a link where you can do this:
